How did you discover visual kei?

So, how did everyone here discover vk?
And while you're at it, how old were you, and how did you find S-T? xD

I found out about vk from Shojo Beat magazine. In the magazine, they were talking about Hyde and I thought he looked cool, so I listened to his music and liked it-- and that led me to Gackt, which led me to Malice Mizer, which led me to vk.
I got into it about a year and a half ago, I think.

back in middle school i had a friend that listened to jpop and such ause she was chinese so i started with gackt then ended up discovering malice mizer and that was my downfall ;d

So pretty much the same way I discovered it! xD I guess almost everyone starts with Gackt.

Well, I was....I don't even really know. I guess I started listening to ALI PROJECT and all these other J-rock bands when I was about 10 since I watched a lot of anime... And then one day I was looking for the Numa Numa song when I was...12 I think. And somehow I stumbled across CLEAVER SLEAZOID by Dir en Grey. It surprised me and I thought it was amazing. A month or two passed and then I saw Shojo Beat! In it was An Cafe and I thought they were the coolest girls ( lol ) ever. I looked them up and fell in love ( after I found out they were men of course, lol. ) After that I really got into other bands like: ALI PROJECT, and D'espa. My most memorable time must be summer. Oh, boy. I couldn't feed my Jmusic cravings enough. When I stumbled into MALICE I fell in love with music ( Syunikiss was my first song (( YU~KI YOU ARKING GENIUS )) and the Illuminati♥ ). Then bands like: Schwarz Stein, Moi dix Mois, and all this other amazing shit started pouring in....

Whoo, another SB reader, then. xD I remember I was so gleeful after I discovered that An Cafe was all men. I ran with my magazine to show my parents and said "Which of these do you think are girls??" I think every vk lover has done something like that at least once. xD

Oh I know right?! I felt like Jrockers met my standards for beautiful ( still do~ ). My parents thought they were all girls. MALICE scares my family, lul~ And yeah. I couldn't stop looking for pictures and music...

I instantly fell in love with Jrockers because I have ALWAYS loved the clothes worn in video games and anime and such, but I never thought clothes so outlandish actually existed in real life. My family thought the same, but now whenever they see a picture of a Jrocker they say "That's a boy, right?" xDD They're learning, heeheehee. My dad actually really likes MALICE, I'm surprised!

I subscribed to Shojo Beat, and it's pretty awesome. =D The first issue I got, I was kinda feeling 'eh' about the manga, but now I love all of it.

O.M.G. same here. Hee. My Mom calls them women when she sees 'em. She saw this one pretty picture of Kisaki I was looking at and she was like, "Wow, that is such a pretty girl." "Mom, that is a man." "Well HE looks like a woman honey. <.<". Lol. But...my Mom said Jasmine was really pretty once... I even informed her that was a man and she still called him pretty and beautiful. That made me so happy.
Oh, wow! Yeah! My parents like MALICE a lot too. Gackt era of course, lol. My Dad knows French so he really liked the merveilles live show. ( I showed them a lot of it while we were waiting for a band they wanted to see to come out ). They also like BESPA KUMAMERO!

Ahaha. ^^ Aww, lucky Jasmine. He really is pretty. I like Teru best though... and his new short-shorts. 8D My mom is finally convinced that Mana is in fact a man.
Yeah, my dad likes Gackt era. xD He actually downloaded merveilles. I'm like "If you like it so much, why don't you help me buy it and pay for half??" I still have to buy MM CDs.
Ooh, he knows French? =D Niiiice.

I looove Nana. I bought the DVD and it's so great~ They don't serialize it in the magazine anymore though.
