Of course! hide is one of my great inspirations and the reason I got into X Japan in the first place XD I used to be a very withdrawn person, and still sort of am but hide and X have helped me become more social and kind of wake up; I can distinctly…

Hmm. A lot of people actually don't know I listen to Jrock at all, unless I run into somebody while I'm wearing my Dir en grey or girugamesh shirt or something and they ask me what it means or what band that is. I try to introduce people to Jrock if…

My favorite band X Japan of course :) I'd also love to see Buck-Tick, MUCC, girugamesh, Versailles, LM.C...there are a lot. I've actually never been to a concert, and it would be a very special thing to have my first be an X concert.

Oh yeah, it was "Heart of Sword"... hahaa, I suck. :P
I actually bought a Nami Tamaki CD, which was apparently from Gundam SEED, because of her song "Heroine." Unfortunately, the rest of the CD was not particularly good...
I've never heard TMR's INVOKE. Heard of it, though. I'll have to give it a listen...

That's an interesting thing to say! I'd say slow music is better for summer... 'cause in AZ it's so hot you don't want to do anything! Whereas in winter if you dance around a bit you get warmed up. :)

Hahaha, that makes more sense. Yeah, I've heard very little by TMR, but what I've heard, I like. Especially "yoake mae," I think... the theme from Rurouni Kenshin. :)

Oh, I love Luna Sea! I think I liked them right away, though. But I'm glad they grew on you~! :D

Yeah, I dunno how big of a thing it was. But I found it on a random google search so it was probably fairly popular. It's a dead link now, unfortunately. I still have it bookmarked in case it ever comes back... :/

I love how you say "I was new to Japanese music" and then "I'd listened to TMR for years." I guess TMR is not music. XDD (Juuuuust kidding.)
That's so cool though! :D Yeah, I personally think that if music is an acquired taste then it sticks with you longer once you finally do come to like it. You know? Because if you take the time to understand it, I think that leaves an impression. Or something. I'm feeling inarticulate at the moment, gasdjksdks. Do you get what I mean though? x) (That's Dir en grey for me, btw. And er, this one song by Dave Matthews Band, but never mind that.)
I can't remember how I found them. :O
It might have been on the same website where I found Dir en grey. It was called Project J... and it introduced a bunch of different Japanese bands and gave their best CD (according to the site owner) and a list of best songs, and the top song had a download available. I remember Dir en grey's was Cage (so that was my first Deg song) and I thiiiiink if X was there, then it was Silent Jealousy. In fact yeah, I'm preeeeetty sure that was the case.

So. How did you get into X? :)

If you like Defying Gravity you should listen to "No Good Deed." It is amazing. Especially in German. :O
Yess, I like Phantom too. :D
Yes you're right, it is strange but well. VK itself is strange...? Haha. So strangeness abounds.

No livejournal, but I do have MSN. I don't use it a lot though. You could add me on Facebook but that would kind of defeat the purpose of this site... I'd say let's just stay active here for now...

Oh, ha! That's funny. Ah well, one of my really good friends's mom is Japanese (well actually from Okinawa but eh) so I think it's fine... :)
Aw, man, that does suck, that other people got to take Japanese without you. Blah. :(

You should look into something like Rent or Wicked. You've probably heard both of those names... I like them both a lot because they are cathartic (which is what I look for in music) and also very rockin'. Naturally it isn't exactly rock music--it's different--but you may like it. I was surprised when I did. :)
Try this link if you have a minute. It's probably the most well-known track from Wicked...

Wow it's weird to be trying to get someone to listen to Broadway on a vk site. XD

Well it's good to be determined! :D
Maybe let's not meet randomly... maybe when we're both studying in Japan we can meet up at a concert, yo! OMG LET'S DO THAT! :O

OHHHH no Japanese?! *death* That must've suuucckkkeddd. D:
German is cool though! :D
Um... random question... are you into Broadway at all? (Yes totally random, haha.) 'Cause my friend found a recording of some music from Wicked in German and it kicks the English version's asssss. Seriously. And also kicks the Japanese version's ass (it sounds like enka D:).
Yes, if you've been learning from pop culture it's a really good supplement but it's a different kind of learning... it's good that you're starting over, but you'll be top of your class right away. :)

Yeah, my college (Arizona State University) works with a couple (I dunno how many...) but I think I'll pick Waseda because it's where this one chick is going and she is pretty much my hero. She won a national speech contest in America (that I also entered--didn't even place, it was so tough) and then went on to win the international contest in Japan. And she is crazy nice. So I want to go to her college because if she likes it, it must be cool. Haha. :P

Well... er. Funny story. I umm... took Japanese classes (while in high school) at my local community college, entered Arizona's Japanese speech contest and... won. And got... plane tickets... to Japan. So, that is why. Ahem.

I don't know names except Waseda and Tokyo U, ha. And I also don't know any details about credit transfers or anything either so... gosh I should look into that at some point maybe huh... ><</body>

I'm a freshman too!! :O
AND I am also probably doing my sophomore year in Japan, too! Dude this is crazy! I'm going to try for Waseda University... where do you want to go? :D

Yes, I am definitely an X fan. :)
Oh, I'm glad you think the pictures are interesting! You'll love everything about Japan, you'll never want to leave. OH, a fellow Japanese major?? :D Definitely way cool that I added you even if it was an accident, haha. Let's be pals. x)
